The NCFE CACHE Level 2 Award in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities helps learners develop essential knowledge and understanding. It is suitable for people who support individuals with learning disabilities in their professional roles.
Throughout the qualification, learners explore learning disabilities, relevant legislation and effective communication. They also develop their understanding of person-centred support and planning.
To achieve the qualification, learners must complete 12 credits, made up of 4 credits from the mandatory unit and 8 credits from optional units.
You will study primarily through Magpie Training's Moodle e-learning platform. Moodle provides learning resources, assessment activities and regular assessor feedback.
In addition, you can work through the qualification around your employment and other commitments. Learners who prefer a traditional approach can also complete a paper-based portfolio.
You will build a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your understanding of the qualification content.
For example, evidence may include observations, written assignments, structured tasks and questions and answers.
Your Magpie Training assessor will provide guidance and feedback throughout the programme. Once you have produced sufficient valid evidence, your assessor will confirm that you have met the qualification requirements.
This is a knowledge-based qualification, so you do not need to be employed in a care setting or complete workplace observations in order to achieve it. This makes it suitable for both people already working within health, social care or education and those looking to develop their knowledge before progressing into relevant employment or further study.
This qualification can be completed nationally through our Moodle learning platform, with flexible assessor support and no requirement for workplace observations.
This qualification is suitable for people who come into contact with individuals with learning disabilities as part of their work.
This may include staff working within health and social care, education, housing, leisure, employment support, community services and voluntary roles.
Successful completion of this qualification can support progression into relevant employment within health and social care or education and can provide a foundation for further study.
NCFE identifies direct progression to Level 2 and Level 3 health and social care qualifications and to the Level 3 Award or Certificate in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities. Some units are shared across related qualifications, which can support progression.
