About This Qualification

The NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Dementia Care is designed for learners who want to develop their knowledge and understanding of dementia and how to support individuals living with dementia effectively.

How You’ll Study

You will study primarily through Magpie Training’s Moodle e-learning platform. Moodle gives you access to learning resources, assessment activities, feedback and assessor support.

In addition, you can work through the qualification around your employment and other commitments. Learners who prefer a traditional approach can also complete a paper-based portfolio.

How You’ll Be Assessed

You will build a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your understanding of the qualification content. For example, evidence may include, written assignments, structured tasks and questions and answers.

Your Magpie Training assessor will provide guidance and feedback throughout the programme. Once you have produced sufficient valid evidence, your assessor will confirm that you have met the qualification requirements.

No Workplace Placement Required

This is a knowledge-based qualification, so you do not need to be employed in a care setting or complete workplace observations in order to achieve it. This makes it suitable for both people already working within health, social care or education and those looking to develop their knowledge before progressing into relevant employment or further study.

Studying from anywhere in the UK?

You do not need to be based near Magpie Training. Our regulated qualifications can be supported nationally through Moodle, regular assessor contact and planned workplace evidence.

Who Is This Qualification For?

This qualification is suitable for anyone who wants to develop their understanding of behaviour that challenges and how individuals can be supported positively.

It is particularly relevant to people working, or looking to work, within adult social care, health care, education or other support settings where they may encounter individuals whose behaviour can be challenging to themselves or others.

There are no specific prior learning requirements, although previous study at Level 1 in areas such as health care, social care, childcare or supporting learning may be helpful.

Progression

Successful completion of this qualification can support progression into relevant employment within health and social care or education and can provide a foundation for further study.

NCFE identifies progression routes including the Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care and relevant Level 3 health and social care qualifications.
