The NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Behaviour that Challenges helps learners understand behaviour that challenges and its impact on individuals and those supporting them.
Learners explore why behaviour that challenges may occur and how positive approaches can support individuals. In addition, the qualification covers effective communication, appropriate responses to incidents and the importance of reflection.
The qualification contains four mandatory units. Because it is knowledge based, learners do not need to work in a care setting or complete a practical placement.

You will study primarily through Magpie Training’s Moodle e-learning platform. Moodle gives you access to learning resources, assessment activities, feedback and assessor support.
In addition, you can work through the qualification around your employment and other commitments. Learners who prefer a traditional approach can also complete a paper-based portfolio.
You will build a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your understanding of the qualification content. For example, evidence may include written assignments, structured tasks and questions and answers.
Your Magpie Training assessor will provide guidance and feedback throughout the programme. Once you have produced sufficient valid evidence, your assessor will confirm that you have met the qualification requirements.
This is a knowledge-based qualification, so you do not need to be employed in a care setting or complete workplace observations in order to achieve it. This makes it suitable for both people already working within health, social care or education and those looking to develop their knowledge before progressing into relevant employment or further study.
You do not need to be based near Magpie Training. Our regulated qualifications can be supported nationally through Moodle, regular assessor contact and planned workplace evidence.
This qualification is suitable for anyone who wants to develop their understanding of behaviour that challenges and how individuals can be supported positively.
It is particularly relevant to people working, or looking to work, within adult social care, health care, education or other support settings where they may encounter individuals whose behaviour can be challenging to themselves or others.
There are no specific prior learning requirements, although previous study at Level 1 in areas such as health care, social care, childcare or supporting learning may be helpful.
Successful completion of this qualification can support progression into relevant employment within health and social care or education and can provide a foundation for further study.
NCFE identifies progression routes including Level 2 and Level 3 Health and Social Care qualifications, Mental Health qualifications, the Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Working with Individuals with Learning Disabilities, Understanding Autism qualifications and qualifications relating to the Children and Young People’s Workforce.
Build the knowledge and confidence to understand why behaviour that challenges may occur and how positive, person-centred approaches can support individuals effectively.
This Level 2 qualification can be completed through flexible learning with support from Magpie Training.
