You will study primarily through Magpie Training’s Moodle e-learning platform. Moodle gives you access to learning resources, assessment activities, feedback and assessor support.
In addition, you can work through the qualification around your employment and other commitments. Learners who prefer a traditional approach can also complete a paper-based portfolio.
You will build a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your understanding of the qualification content. For example, evidence may include observations, written assignments, structured tasks and questions and answers.
Your Magpie Training assessor will provide guidance and feedback throughout the programme. Once you have produced sufficient valid evidence, your assessor will confirm that you have met the qualification requirements.
Your qualification must demonstrate both your knowledge and your ability to apply this safely and effectively within your adult social care role. Practical competence is evidenced through appropriate workplace assessment and supporting evidence gathered during your programme.
Where a Magpie Training assessor is able to attend, practical skills may be assessed through direct observation. Where distance makes assessor attendance impractical, appropriate workplace evidence and suitably completed expert witness testimony may be used where permitted by the qualification assessment requirements.
Your assessor will guide you on the evidence required and ensure that all evidence is valid, authentic, sufficient and relevant to the qualification criteria.
You do not need to be based near Magpie Training. Our regulated qualifications can be supported nationally through Moodle, regular assessor contact and planned workplace evidence.
This qualification is suitable for people working in adult social care who want to develop their knowledge, skills and practical competence at Level 3.
It is particularly appropriate for experienced care and support workers, senior care workers, lead adult care workers and others who have increased responsibility for providing person-centred care and support.
Learners must have access to an appropriate adult social care workplace so that practical competence can be demonstrated and assessed as part of the qualification. NCFE states that practical skills must be evidenced in the real work environment, with direct observation required for a number of skill-based outcomes.
On successful completion of the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care, learners can progress within employment into roles such as Lead Adult Care Worker, Senior Care Support Worker or Lead Personal Assistant.
The qualification also provides a progression route to higher-level study, including the Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care and Level 5 Diploma in Leading and Managing an Adult Care Service, as well as other specialist or higher-level qualifications relevant to the learner’s role and career goals.
